Uh wow...I think this is well designed, but the difficulty is...interesting. Kind of like a Kaizo right off the bat. I feel like someone new to gaming wouldn't even understand what was meant by a reset jump in the first place haha...this game is clearly for platforming supervets...kind of a small audience...
The last level took me 33 deaths.
Plus:
+ Good thought, having the second jump leave behind different particles. It's a minor detail, bit it really helps to know which jump you're on for the more forgetful of us. Trust me, it's a problem.
+ I think your hitboxes are fine, and it's just that maybe a frame earlier than the visual, the calculation of your position hits a death spot, so it looks like you died earlier than you should have. I'm pretty sure that's not actually the case.
+The music is pretty nice. So are the effects.
+Gravity rate is pretty smooth. As is the horizontal velocity.
Minus:
-The game starts off harder than it ends, I think. It took me ages to get past the first part, but the next few felt like I already knew the game very well. Was that intended?
-With only one track, I'm left wanting for a little musical diversity.
-What the hell was that secret room lmao
Overall, there are a lot of great things that were done here in just a single week. Yes, some things can be improved, but there will never be a need for SOME folks to take out their losing rage on devs who did the best they could with the time they had. Awesome work. I'd love to be part of a group who put out games like this.
